Texas A&M reconsidering closure of journalism school?

My alma mater, Texas A&M, discontinued its journalism degree program a couple of years ago in a very controversial move. For cost reasons, of course.

Now, it appears the university is reconsidering.

That's good news. While A&M never had the size or scope of the University of Texas program, it was an excellent place to get a hands-on journalism education.

More than ever, the world needs strong journalists trained in modern communications tools. And not everyone can go to UT.

I know I speak for a large number of Aggie journalism grads when I say this ... it's critical that liberal arts dean Charles Johnson to find a way to reinstate the degree program.

Thanks to Paloma Cruz for the heads-up.
