Wells Fargo -- a cautious approach to a corporate blog

Bloggers push blogging. But corporations push back -- asking pesky questions about disclosure laws, regulations, ROI and the like.

The gap often seems too big to close, but some companies are sticking their proverbial toes in the water.

Which brings us to Wells Fargo and its Guided by History blog. As one of the acknowledged leaders in online banking, Wells Fargo is no stranger to the Internet. And it was also the first large bank to start a public blog, albeit one focused on emergency preparedness rather than customer issues.

Still, it's a part of an ongoing process, and Shel Israel has a fantastic interview with Wells Fargo's Ed Terpening, who manages the company's blogging/RSS efforts.

Ed's insight into Wells Fargo's cautious approach to blogging is valuable for anyone pushing the medium as a corporate communications tool.
