New transit authority blog is live and rolling
The new METRO blog is up and running ... or rolling, I guess I should say. It's called Write On METRO.
The Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority announced plans to launch a blog back in October, and it's interesting to finally view the finished version, authored by former Houston Chronicle reporter Mary Sit.
Mary has her hands full, as you'll see if you scroll down to the comments section on her first post. Few people lack opinions about public transportation, especially in Houston.
Mary writes that she wants to hear from readers, and that she's listening, but blogHouston's Anne Linehan makes a good point -- the blog is valuable only if METRO's senior management is listening, too.
If Write On METRO is successful in helping the agency communicate more effectively, it might spur other government entities to give blogging a shot. But that's a pretty tall order.
We'll all be watching.
