Murder stats add further damage to Houston's reputation
Today I had to drive to a meeting across Houston.
Traveling Houston freeways midday is somewhat akin to racing at Talladega, except without the safety gear. The cars fly by at 70+ MPH, swerving and cutting to get a whisper's edge ahead of the next guy. It's nothing to see someone cross three or four lanes of traffic without signaling -- or even looking -- to make an exit.
Of course, it could have been worse. I could have taken the bus.
blogHouston reports that the murder on a Metro bus today was Houston's 11th since Friday. That's a pretty amazing statistic and one that doesn't bode well for the city's ragged reputation. Humidity, ugliness AND excessive crime??? Sounds great!!
